It’s hard to believe that we are saying farewell to summer, however, I am an autumn girl through and through, so I’m welcoming fall with open arms. Hello to crisp fall weather, pumpkin everything, cozy sweaters, and hot apple cider! When the seasons change, so do the books on our bookshelves.
I find that the kids gravitate more towards our book shelf if I switch our books out from time to time to keep up with the changing seasons. Today, I’m sharing my five favorite fall inspired books!
1. I Know It’s Autumn
By Eileen Spinelli
This book details all of the fun things we look forward to as autumn begins – leaves changing, pumpkin muffins, and blooming mums to name a few. The rhyming narration makes this book a quick read and the bright, colorful pictures will keep your child’s attention.
2. EEK! Halloween!
By Sandra Boynton
We love all of Sandra Boynton’s books! I’ve read them to all three of my children. This book is a new release and just like her other books, we’ve fallen in love EEK! Halloween! Sandra Boynton keeps children engaged with her fun illustrations and witty language.
3. Babylit’s Dracula & Frankenstein
By Jennifer Adams
I absolutely adore all of the Babylit books! Babylit makes it easy to introduce your toddler to timeless classics. FRANKENSTEIN guides your child through each body part and DRACULA is a counting primer. They’re less of a story and more of a picture book, however, they’re entertaining and full of wit!
4. Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn
By Kenard Pak
This gorgeous book follows a young girl through her cute town and a forest as she welcomes autumn. She engages with the animals and nature throughout the book as the narrator describes the seasonal changes. I appreciate the racially diverse characters in this sweet story as well as the watercolor-like illustrations.
5. Little Blue Truck’s Halloween
By Alice Schertle
If your family enjoys the Little Blue Truck series, this book is a must! It’s full of rhyming adventures with Blue as you journey with him for lots of Halloween fun. The plot is simple for children and they are kept entertained with all the flaps they can open for a surprise!
There are so many great fall inspired books out there for children. It was difficult to round up my favorite five! All of these books are perfect for snuggling up with your little one and providing you with inspiration for fall activities. What are your favorite children’s books to read during this season? We are always looking for new ones to try!
Happy first day of autumn! May it be filled with pumpkin spice, pumpkin picking, leaf collecting, lots of comfort food, and a good book!
Great list and images!
