Take bright colors and a no-pressure environment to run, walk, or skip whatever distance and pace is right for your family, then top it off with Crunch Berries at the finish line—you’ve got a recipe for some sweet family fun time!
The Crunch Berry Run is a family-friendly color fun run/walk that could only be in Cedar Rapids, given our city’s love for all things Crunch Berries. The event is October 2, hosted by the local Cedar Rapids nonprofit Murals & More, in partnership with the Downtown Farmers’ Market and sponsored by The Quaker Oats Company.
This color fun run is less about the run and more about the fun. There’s no race timer or awards, rather things to see and do (and lots of color) along the way. Families can turn around at any point throughout the out-and-back route. The maximum full distance is approximately 5K for those that want to take in the entire experience.
The opening send-off will be led by Z102.9’s Clare Duffy and Eric Hanson, hosts of The Morning Scramble starting at 9:00 AM. Featured guests include the mayor of Cedar Rapids to make a proclamation of October 2 as Crunch Berry Day, plus a performance by Alisabeth Von Presley to keep the party rocking! After crossing the finish line, the party continues on the 2nd Ave Bridge until 11:00 AM with Crunch Berries, music, family-friendly activities, and of course, more color!
Student Artwork on Display
Since this event is hosted by a local arts organization, Murals & More, it’s only fitting to put artwork front and center on display! The Crunch Berry Run will be decorated by student artwork submissions to let young artists proudly display their work. All student entries are accepted! Stop by any Cedar Rapids or Marion Hy-Vee Grocery to pick up the student artwork entry sheet from the customer service counter and let your young artist get creative! Drop your student’s creation back off at Hy-Vee before September 15.

You’ll save some cash if you register before the end of the month—the cost is only $25 for early registrants on or before August 31. Registration includes a t-shirt and sunglasses to wear during the event. Moms take note: registration is optional for kids age four and younger, meaning they can be part of the fun for free if they don’t need the t-shirt!
