I really do love Easter, but I struggle with candy-free Easter basket ideas. The brunches, powerful sermons, the unbelievably cute Easter dresses, and of course the candy and Easter baskets. My daughter is 16 months old. She doesn’t eat candy and really doesn’t understand the concept of the Easter Bunny bringing and hiding chocolate eggs, jelly beans, and trinkets.
In fact, the entire “Easter Bunny” thing kind of creeps me out. A giant bunny comes into your house, lays eggs, and hides them? What in the world does that have to do with the true meaning of Easter? I digress…
If you peruse the stores, you’ll see a collection of pre-made Easter baskets full of stuffed animals, candy, cheap toys, and giant chocolate bunnies. I’m not dissing on the convenience of these baskets, but I’d rather get presents that are practical and worth investing in. Especially something that doesn’t contain junk or candy that my daughter will choke on or will ultimately end up in the trash. Plus, it’s a perfect excuse to stock up on some spring and summer supplies!
