5 Spring Crafts for Kids

Spring is a wonderful time for kids to engage in creative and colorful crafts that celebrate the season’s renewal and beauty. 1. Paper Plate Flowers

Materials Needed:

• Paper plates
• Paints or markers
• Green pipe cleaners (for stems)
• Glue
• Scissors

Instructions:

1. Have the kids paint the back of the paper plates with bright colors, mimicking flower petals.
2. Once the paint is dry, cut the paper plate into flower shapes.
3. Create a small hole in the center of each flower and insert a green pipe cleaner as the stem.
4. Let the kids use markers to add details like flower centers or patterns on the petals.

2. Egg Carton Caterpillars

Materials Needed:

• Empty egg carton
• Paints or markers
• Googly eyes
• Pipe cleaners
• Glue

Instructions:

1. Cut the egg carton into sections of 3 or 4 cups.
2. Let the kids paint or color each section in bright colors.
3. Glue googly eyes onto one end of each egg carton section to create the caterpillar’s face.
4. Attach pipe cleaners as antennae.
5. Let the kids add additional decorations like spots or stripes.

3. Tissue Paper Butterflies

Materials Needed:

• Colored tissue paper
• Pipe cleaners
• Googly eyes
• Glue
• Scissors

Instructions:

1. Cut squares of tissue paper (around 6×6 inches).
2. Stack 4-5 squares together and fold them accordion-style.
3. Cinch the folded tissue paper in the middle and secure it with a pipe cleaner.
4. Gently separate and fluff out the layers to create butterfly wings.
5. Glue googly eyes onto the pipe cleaner and bend it to create antennae.
6. Attach the butterfly to a window or wall using tape.

4. Handprint Flowers

Materials Needed:

• Construction paper
• Paints or markers
• Glue
• Scissors

Instructions:

1. Have the kids dip their hands in paint or use markers to color their palms and fingers.
2. Press their painted hand onto the construction paper to create flower petals.
3. Let the handprint dry completely.
4. Use markers to add details like flower stems and leaves.
5. Optional: Add a small button or pom-pom in the center of each flower.
