Yep, you read that right… This is a post about underwear.
If you’re like me… after becoming a mama, you looked at your underwear drawer and realized that the lacy, skimpy, ride-up-your-butt undies wouldn’t cut it anymore. (to moms still rocking these styles… go you!!) I wanted to find something more muted and sophisticated (and with NO VPL!), but after years of shopping at Victoria’s Secret and Aerie, I didn’t know where to go for new underwear that would suit my needs. If this resonates with you… You’re in luck! I have polled mom friends and tried out options, and I’m here to share my top 3!
Chantelle Soft Stretch Briefs
These earn my top spot in the “mom-approved undies” list. A fellow CR Moms Contributor recommended the thong version of these when I polled the contributor group for ideas. I still can’t jump on the thong train, but I wanted to try these, so I ordered the brief. They come in a thong, brief, and hipster style, and get this – they are one size fits XS-XL. I was skeptical, to say the least. Needless to say, my undie drawer is full of these now!
The brief is nice and high-waisted, which I prefer with high-waisted pants. They may not be the sexiest undies, but they are practical and very comfortable! No lines, and the way that the back liner seam makes that one invisible too! Regarding the one size fits XS-XL… I don’t know how well these would work for someone size XS… I am a solid medium, and they fit me perfectly, but they do seem to stretch out so that by the end of the day if I was an XS (a girl can dream…), I could see this being a problem, but maybe not for the thong style! They are also pricey, but I watch for them to go on sale.
Soma Vanishing Edge Hipster
These were the first pair of undies I tried, and I was pleased with them! They don’t feel too “old lady” and come in various options (with or without lace, options in cotton, vanishing tummy). Available in sizes XS-XXL, they do a good job of not leaving a line, except for the liner seam in the back – I find that this is visible when I wear lighter-colored fitted leggings (good thing I wear black 90% of the time). They are pricey, but Soma often runs sales. As a girl who hates to pay for shipping, they only offer free shipping over $75, so if you’re like me, you may want to stock up for that free shipping.
Reebok Seamless Hipster
These are not entirely invisible under leggings, but they are my go-to for working out. They are a great material for sweating and moving in. I primarily run for exercise, so it doesn’t bother me if there’s a line under my running tights. (I’d like to say that’s because I run so fast people wouldn’t notice… but that would be a lie). These come in 3rd place because of the VPL, but they still have a great purpose for me and are affordable.
