I still remember my first cell phone. It was one of those brick Nokias with the changeable faceplates. It was primarily used to placate my mother by allowing her to be able to check on me at any time, and to play “Snake.” It had limited minutes, shoddy cell service, and not a whole lot else going for it. But phones have come so far since then.
Now your phone can do so many things to help you better function as a better human and mother.
These are some of my favorite apps that I use to “mom” better.
Sago World (Subscription required):
I know. Before you say anything, this is a kid game. But, it’s been a lifesaver on so many occasions. My children get limited screen time and are not generally allowed access to my phone. However, after a few appointments went unexpectedly long, I learned that it’s smart to keep a kid app on your phone. I keep Sago World on my phone so that I can feel that my kids are getting to play something educational and prevent a meltdown.
Target
The Target app is amazing. Not only can you do all of your Circle (formerly Cartwheel) deals on it, but you can also pay from it! My other favorite use of this app is when I know something specific that I am looking for, but can’t find it. I can look it up on the app and it will tell me the aisle number. Sometimes I need to not wander Target, both for time and for my wallet.
Cozi Family Organizer
This app has been crucial to keeping my family on track, schedule-wise. As my children get older and we begin to attend more and more activities, it is crucial that both my husband and I are on the same page. This allows us to share a calendar and color code it by family member. It also allows us to share lists, which we utilize for so many things. We have used it as a grocery list, a packing list, what needs to go to a practice or class, etc. It also will store recipes for you, which is where we like to keep our faves for easy access.
Keepy
We all know how much artwork our kiddos come home with. For us, it’s been this way since they were in infant rooms at daycare. As much as I would love to keep every little piece, this simply is not going to happen! Plus, I love to share the love when it comes to the cuter pieces of artwork. This is where Keepy comes in. It allows us to digitize the artwork and share it with friends and family. It also allows us to attach pictures and videos. Now I don’t feel so guilty when I pitch items, because I know they still exist online.
I know that there are so many other amazing apps and phone functions that can be used to make “momming” easier, but I wanted to share just a few of my favorites!
Do you have a favorite app? One that you can’t live without?
