I am currently nursing my fourth baby. A few weeks ago I counted up all of the months I have spent nursing over the last seven years and so far I’m at 24 months. That’s two whole years I’ve spent with a little one attached to me every 2-3 hours! I am not going to pretend to know everything about parenting, or about breastfeeding. But I have tried a lot of different products over the years to ensure I have enough milk while nursing, and also enough to pump extra so I have some stored in the freezer.
With weird ingredients like fenugreek and brewers yeast, many of these products don’t taste the greatest. Instead, I have found some favorite milk-boosting products that are actually healthy, great for snacking or drinking, and can definitely help keep your supply up!
Please note: these are all products that I purchased, used, and loved because they worked for me. Everybody is different. As always, if you are concerned about a product while nursing, talk with your health care provider and/or baby’s pediatrician.
Milksta Coffee
YES! It’s coffee! This is very easy to brew: just add the packet to some hot water and the mixture easily dissolves into your mug. It comes already sweetened and with creamer so you don’t have to add anything (unless you want to add a shot of espresso like me to give it a caffeine boost!) This coffee is vegan, healthy and a great way to start your morning.
Milksta Pink Drink
Pour this mix into a shaker with some cold water and you’ve got yourself a fun, refreshing drink that is also full of good-for-you ingredients. It’s not too sweet, mixes well into water, and doesn’t have a “grainy” texture that many mixes seem to have.
Nourisher
These are bars made of healthy ingredients like oats, flax, chia seeds, and coconut oil. They are perfect snacks that are easy to bring on the go. My favorite flavor is chocolate banana.
Boobie Bars
Boobie bars are vegan bars that come in three different flavors. They are also great for on-the-go and full of ingredients that help boost your milk supply. These are baked bars, so they have more of a cookie texture rather than a granola bar type of texture. The peanut butter has been my favorite so far.
Boobie Bears
My favorite part about these gummies is that they have biotin to support post-natal hair growth because I am losing so. much. hair. It also has ingredients to boost your immune system on top of milk-boosting superfoods.
Want to make something yourself?? I love the no-bake lactation cookie recipe I found on Pinterest! These cookies are delicious and so easy to make! They are perfect for when you have a sweet tooth craving and you don’t have to feel guilty because they really are healthy! Get the recipe here!
