Fun and Healthy Toddler Snacks

I’m often searching for something healthy for my 14-month-old to snack on, and I love to hear what other moms give to their toddlers. Below are four healthy and FUN snacks that are perfect for toddlers. We all know that it can be difficult to serve a healthy snack that kids are excited to munch on, and these snacks are sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters!

Toddler Snacks

Yogurt Bites

Yogurt bites are simple and can be jazzed up so many different ways. Simply, fill a ziplock bag with greek yogurt. We used strawberry, but banana would be a huge hit with my toddler. Cut the corner of the Ziplock and begin to squeeze out dots (the size of a dime) onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. You can add chocolate, coconut, nuts, fruit, or sprinkles to the yogurt bites. Pop the cookie sheet into the freezer until the yogurt is set. This usually takes about an hour.

Gone Fishin’

This snack is so fun for kids and contains ingredients that you can usually find in your pantry. All you need is a nut butter or cream cheese, Goldfish crackers, and pretzel sticks. Show the kids how to dip the fishing rod (pretzel stick) into the bait (nut butter) and go fishing! And bonus points if you include blue plates for the water!

Frozen Yogurt Fruit Bark

Fruit bark is a perfect snack that your toddler can help you with! Pour a large container of yogurt onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle on your favorite chopped fruit and freeze for 3-4 hours. Then, break up the sheet of frozen yogurt into snack sized portions.

Toddler Snacks 4

Roasted Chickpeas

This one is a healthy, savory snack that’s great to throw in the diaper bag or at a kid on a highchair during the dreaded “witching hour”. This recipe comes from myfussyeater.com.

Ingredients
1 can cooked chickpeas (240g drained weight)
1.5 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp garlic, crushed
½ tsp dried oregano
2 tbsp parmesan, grated
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F, and line a baking tray with baking parchment.
Drain the water from the chickpeas and place them between several layers of kitchen paper. Leave for 15 minutes, allowing as much moisture as possible to transfer onto the paper.
Mix the oil, garlic, and oregano together in a bowl. Add the parmesan and then season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the chickpeas and stir until well combined.
Spread the chickpeas onto the baking tray and roast for 30-40 minutes, turning 3 or 4 times.
Allow the chickpeas to fully cool before removing from the tray. This will help to keep them crunchy and stop them from going chewy. Store in an air-tight jar for 2-3 days.

I’d love to hear what your toddler’s favorite snacks are!
