I am never having kids because yours are jumping from couch to couch.
Because yours are screaming with joy as they bike through the kitchen.
Because yours had a diaper blowout and now the car seat smells bad.
Because yours are having a teenage meltdown.
Because yours are having a toddler meltdown.
Because yours are throwing clean laundry on the floor.
Because yours are chasing the dogs with the vacuum.
Because yours just farted in your lap.
Because yours got head lice last summer.
Because yours are fighting over the color of a spoon.
Because yours are sneaking into your bed to sleep at night.
I am never having kids because your kids are unapologetically being children.
I am never having kids because I enjoy a full nights’ rest.
Because I really like finishing my own meal.
Because I don’t like messes.
Because I value my furniture and carpet.
Because I just couldn’t physically do it.
Because I really don’t want to get fat.
Because I really love date night with my husband.
I really don’t want kids.
Because I don’t want to have a built-in best friend.
Because I don’t want my heart to explode with love.
Because I don’t want to see myself in someone else’s face.
Because I do not want to have grandkids and great-grandkids.
I am never having kids because I don’t want to be so overcome with love and appreciation that all of the exhaustion, fear, stress, and busyness fades away.
I am never having kids because… I have no idea what I am actually saying.
Actually, I want more kids.
I want more kids because your newborn smells like Heaven.
Because they grow up so fast.
Because I cherish this season of life.
Because I’ve never been happier.
Because being pregnant was magical.
Because I really don’t like hot coffee, anyway.
Because I want an excuse to go to Disney World again.
Because one seemed like enough until I had her.
Because my kids.are.so.stinking.cute.
Because seeing my husband hold a baby is the BEST.
Because it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
Because being tired isn’t as tiring as I thought it would be.
I want more kids because I’ve never felt more loved, needed, cherished, and honored in my entire life.
