Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.

A few weeks ago I woke up on a Wednesday morning before my alarm went off.  As I laid in my bed I began smiling as a rush of emotions and feelings came over me.  What caused it, I have no clue, but I was feeling incredibly thankful for everything I had in my life.

A little while later my husband sent me a “Good Morning” text.  He had left early that morning for the gym. I responded by saying, “I woke up feeling really thankful for our amazing kids, our life, and for you.  Love you. Have a good day!” He responded back with, “Have a blessed day.”

Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.

Three words that can have a very powerful impact on our lives if we let them.  My life isn’t perfect. But it’s my life and without it, I’d have nothing.

Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.

So often we get caught up in the negatives that surround us each day.  Life can be so heavy at times, whether because of something personal, professional, or something we hear on the radio or see on the news.  I know I’m guilty of that. My life has its negatives, as I’m sure yours does too. But when we truly take time to think about everything we do have, everything that is positive and good, it helps to put it all in perspective.

Focusing more on the goodwill around us helps us to do a better job of seeking out and appreciating all of the things in life that truly bring us happiness.  If we are able to find even the smallest things that allow us to feel grateful for what we have, it can make an incredible impact. Even when life is hard.

And I know it gets hard.

I’ve had some very low points in my life that I wasn’t sure how I was going to get through.  But I did make it through, and I know a big reason why I was able to do so was because I held on to what truly mattered. And, I focused on the things that were most important to me–the things that made me feel happy and lucky to live the life I live each day.

If we focus more on the things we are grateful for we may realize how easy it is to see all the blessings we have in our lives.

How often at night do you find yourself thinking about all of the things you didn’t get done that day instead of all that you accomplished?  Or about all of the things that went wrong instead of the things that went right?

Why do we do that to ourselves?  Here’s some advice…

Take the time to be thankful for what you DO have in life; not what you DON’T.

Grateful. Thankful. Blessed.

For me, it’s a job that I’m passionate about with coworkers who share that same passion.  It’s a family that loves me and supports me in all that I do. Friends who bring me happiness and accept me for who I am, friends I know will always be there for me whenever I need them.

It’s a husband who takes the time to send me a good morning text message each day because he knows how much it means to me. A husband who is not only a wonderful partner but an amazing father.

Then there are my kids. Oh, my kids! A daughter who can brighten a room with her smile, who sings and dances like no one is watching. A son who hugs me tight and reminds me each day just how precious life is as he experiences so many things for the very first time.

So do yourself a favor.  Take a moment to really think about what you are thankful for.  Think about the positives you have in your life.

And feel free to share!  What things your life, whether big or small, make you feel Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed?
