Five Fun and Fast Waiting Games for Kids

We have all been there: time is ticking away and you are stuck waiting with children who are getting restless.  You are out of snacks, and you don’t want to hand over your cell phone. Don’t worry! Here are five waiting games that will come to your rescue!

Whether it be at the doctors office, airport, restaurants or just stuck in traffic, try out some of these ideas to make the time fly by!

Five Fun and Fast Waiting Games for Kids

‘Going on a Picnic’

In this game, each person names an item they are going to bring on a picnic starting with the letter ‘A’ and continuing through the alphabet.  For example, you’d start by saying “I’m going on a picnic and I’m going to bring apples’” If you’d like an extra challenge, the next person would have to say your item and their items.  These items can be as serious or silly as you’d like!

‘I Spy’

‘I Spy’ is a classic waiting game.  One person picks an item from around the room and the others have to ask questions to gain clues as to what the item may be.

Hand Clapping Games

If a little noise is ok where you are waiting, hand-clapping games are lots of fun.  Relive your childhood favorites like ‘Miss Mary Mack’ or check out some new ones in this video.  You’ll be just as excited to try them as your kids!

‘Would You Rather?’

Get to know more about your kids by asking them ‘Would You Rather?’ type questions.  By listening to their answers and explain why they picked their answer you’ll not only be passing the time but will be getting to know them a little better.  Check out some question ideas here!

‘Heads Up’

Ok, this one is a bit of a cheater because it does use technology but in a very interactive way!  Download the app now to have it ready in case you need it. One person holds the phone to their head and the other person will give them clues to guess what is one the screen.  Added bonus? It records the game as well which can be hilarious!

Armed with these five games, the long wait doesn’t stand a chance!

Pick one now and have it ready for when you get caught in an unexpected wait!
