Easy Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

Mornings are usually pretty hectic for most families. Whether you’re trying to get kids off to school, eat before the baby wakes up, or rushing out the door for work; mornings are never long enough. I will admit I am not a morning person, so I’ve been on the lookout for breakfast meal prep ideas to make my mornings a little easier (or lazier). Now don’t get me wrong, I have visited many drive throughs for breakfast on the go or just gone without on a busy morning. That needed to change!

Easy Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

These easy make ahead breakfast ideas all take little hands-on prep in the morning!

Overnight Oats

Overnight oats have been so popular this last year! Just take one quick search on Pinterest. The best part is you can try different flavors or change the texture and sweetness to your liking. All you need to do is just add more or less of each ingredient. The basis for all overnight oats is equal parts. I use mason jars to make these, so I use 1/3 cup of rolled oats, milk, and yogurt. If you like sweeter, you can do vanilla vs plain yogurt or add honey. You can also try milk alternatives as well. Here are a few of my favorite recipes

Easy Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

Breakfast Burritos

These are great to make in bulk and eat while running out the door on a busy morning. This recipe is what I’ve used for a basis. You can add any of your favorite breakfast foods. Our favorite is scrambled eggs, cheese, and breakfast sausage. Some other ideas are ham and cheese or Tex-Mex breakfast burrito by adding peppers, black beans, or your favorite salsa.  This is a great way to add some protein and extra veggies into your morning. The prep to freezer is the most time consuming, depending on what ingredients you use. In the morning, just pop it in the microwave for 60-90 seconds. Then you’re ready to go!

Overnight Sausage, Egg, and Biscuit Bake

Sausage, eggs, biscuits, and melted cheese…what more could you want in the morning? This is a recipe that takes 15 minutes of prep and can bake in 35 minutes in the morning. For our family of three eating, this can feed us breakfast for about 3 days, since it reheats well. We usually make it the night before, then we throw it in the oven in the morning while we’re getting ready for the day.

Smoothies

Smoothies are a great way to make breakfast quick and on the go. As you’ve probably seen, you can make a ton of freezer prep fruit/veggies packets, then just blend together in the morning. My daughter always thinks it’s a special treat if she can drink breakfast out of a straw. Try this “Easy Sick Day Smoothie” or some of my favorite smoothie recipes including mango berry. Yum!

Easy Make Ahead Breakfasts

There are so many ideas for make ahead breakfasts out there. I’ve seen recipes for baking your own granola bars/muffin tins or even egg muffin mixes on the go. Anything that gives us mamas more time to hit the snooze button is well worth it!
