6 Delicious DIY Popsicle Recipes

What’s not to love about the sweet, cool, summer treat?

Best of all, popsicles are easy to make and so much more fun to eat when you create them yourselves!

6 Delicious DIY Popsicle Recipes

From creamy chocolate, to a sour lemon-lime, to fresh whole fruits, you can easily make a million different flavors. All you need is the ingredients and a popsicle mold!  Or, you can even partially fill small cups with a spoon or popsicle stick. Play with your mix-ins such as water, milk, juice, and yogurts, and get creative with different toppings, like nuts on a fudgsicle.

Check out our favorite DIY Popsicle Recipes!

1. Whole Fruit Popsicles

For the easiest popsicle, chop up some fruit—think watermelon, peaches, or kiwi—and pour into your mold. Use a bit of flavored water to fill the mold the rest of the way in, and you’ve got an easy, healthy way to treat your kids to popsicles this summer!

2. Yogurt Popsicles

Pureeing or finely chopping fruit, and mixing with yogurt, makes an extra-creamy treat! Layer your fruit of choice—we love berries!—and yogurt into your popsicle molds. Experiment with different yogurts and fruit, I know we’ll be adding a peach option to our rotation!

3. No-Drip Popsicles

Moms of toddlers, rejoice! I’m not sure why these aren’t a staple in grocery stores, but these are both kid and mom approved popsicles. Pick any flavor of jell-o, make according to directions, but rather than refrigerate, freeze in your popsicle molds!

4. Gummy Popsicles

This one is a hit with kids! Pick a favorite gummy (think bears, worms, or fish) and freeze into your mold with flavored water or even a lightly colored juice. How cute would a light blue juice (or colored water) be with little fish gummies?!

5. Fudgsicles

Who doesn’t love chocolate? You could just use chocolate milk or chocolate almond milk, but our favorite way to make them a little thicker is to whisk in peanut butter or, better yet, chocolate-hazelnut spread. Per 1.5 cups of milk, you need about half a cup of spread. Whisk or blend it, then pour into your molds. Another option? Throw in some chopped banana!

6. Hidden Veggie Popsicles

Want to get a few more nutrients into your popsicle? Bust out your healthy smoothie recipes, blending in “hidden” ingredients such as spinach, shredded carrots, or sweet peppers. By mixing with fruit, and freezing, your kids will never know! Because adding in a veggie will add another “color” to the mix, do keep that in mind, but generally pairing some spinach with a berry mix, or carrots with a pineapple/orange/mango juice, will hide perfectly!

What is your favorite popsicle recipe? We’d love to try it out!
