Temu – is it worth it?

If you don’t live under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the China-based shopping app, Temu, pronounced “tee-moo”. It is comparable to Shein and better than Wish – offering quicker shipping dates. Temu offers everything from home decor to children’s clothing and everything in between. The kicker is the prices – extremely cheap. I couldn’t help but be intrigued when I kept hearing others mention it.

I won’t lie; this app is slightly overwhelming. There’s a copious amount of messages and coupon bundles they offer and come through notifications on your phone. Once you open the app, there are a few things to click through. You will first come to the homepage, where there’s lightning deals at the top. From there, they suggest items to purchase – scrolling this app feels never-ending. As you start to view things and the item in your cart, you are building your Temu algorithm. This is where it gets dangerous; they start to learn what you like.

Order Confirmed & Delivered 

I placed my order on May 16th and received everything by May 26th – ok, ten days are not bad at all. It arrived in this giant orange plastic package, slightly beat up and taped all around. As I opened the box, each item was individually packaged nicely – this was promising. Everything I ordered had arrived and was damage-free. 

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. The kid’s clothes had to be my favorite part – they wear well and wash great. Honestly, the quality is not the best I’ve ever purchased but also not terrible. They come in all sizes and sport trendy sayings and fonts across the front. The toddler skateboarding socks with flames are the cutest on my little guy! That’s not all I grabbed for my kids – they have great toys and fidgets! I saw these telescoping giraffes that suction to car windows for long trips on TikTok. The woman in the video said she got them on Amazon; I checked the Temu app and got them for less than a dollar a piece. 

I love all things office supplies, especially as a clinic nurse who uses endless amounts of office goodies. This app has some fun and unique pens, highlighters, sticky note pads, correction tape, and more. They all worked great and were less than a couple of bucks. This is something that I would 100% purchase again. 

My three favorite things I purchased that I use every day – 

1. Elastic hair band cutter – $0.97. This is a little hook with a blade I use to remove my daughter’s tiny elastic hair ties without ripping her hair out. Totally tear free! 

1. Head cleansing silicone massage brush – $0.87. I’ve trained my hair to only be washed once a week, I do a really good shampoo on Sunday and use this tool to really scrub my scalp. 

1. Refrigerator liner mats – $2.68. These are super great for protecting your fridge from spills and crumbs galore. I dread cleaning my fridge out, so these save a little time. 

So, is it worth it? 

Overall, yes. I would absolutely order from Temu again. My best recommendation is to read all the reviews, especially on things like clothes. Even if it is cheap, you want to be sure you’re getting your money’s worth. I do know returns are extremely easy, and shipping is free!
