I Have So Much Love for February

February is the month just inside the New Year where I start to ask myself, what were those resolutions again?

Okay, so maybe not everybody is like me, but, I know that there are others out there.

I Have So Much Love for February

Still, February arrives in exemplary fashion, dressed in shades of red, heart-shaped designs all while offering love, promise, and anticipation.

While some of these dates have passed, these are some things I love about February:

February 2nd – Ground Hog Day

Shadow or none, February brings plenty of significant changes! Kudos to the shortest month with only 28 days and the official last month of winter! The days continue to grow longer, temperatures have started to rise, snow is melting, and no matter what happens at this point, it likely will not last long.

February 4th – National Wear Red Day!

“Most heart disease and stroke deaths are preventable, cardiovascular diseases continue to be a woman’s greatest health threat.”

The Wear Red campaign creates awareness while remembering those we have lost to heart disease. Not only for the one day, but the whole month continues to focus on the heart and encourages cardiovascular health and the overall well-being of ourselves and those we love. The changes we make now can impact our future. Take time to listen to your body and check in with your health team yearly.

February 14th – Valentine’s Day

Remember in second grade when that boy two desks over signed that cute card and dropped it in your mailbox, or that tingling feeling you had with your first crush?  Do you know what I’m talking about? Yeah, I thought so.

Maybe for you, it was the boy band crush, a friend’s brother who once had cooties, or you were lucky in love and married the first person you kissed.

Valentine’s Day has become a more commercialized celebration each year. The idea and expectations have increased as well. Remember, it is your story, and how you do it is up to you. Celebrate what you mean to each other simply and without breaking the bank.

  • Dinner and a movie
  • Chocolate and flowers
  • Gift card for a late-night coffee date
  • A couples spa date
  • Quiet night in, kick off your shoes and relax
  • With or without your children, Valentine’s Day can be a wonderful day to enjoy where you are in your relationships with those that you love.

February 17th -National Acts of Kindness Day

The impact made could be everlasting, while the reward is the feeling of grace on their face. Add kindness goals to your nightly table talk, brainstorm things that you can do to make someone’s day a little brighter. Beginning the 13th:

  • Use kind words and gestures.
  • Compliment and encourage
  • Lend a helping hand to family, a friend, or a neighbor
  • Let a stranger go in front of you in line.
  • Give the next person in line a smile when you pay it forward
  • Encourage your family to surprise one another by helping out with day-to-day responsibilities.

February 20th – National Love your Pet Day

Permission granted to relax and bask in a day of cuddles, fuzzy socks, and pajama pants for all pet lovers. Bring home a special treat to share

Self Love and Care

Take care of yourself and who you are, inside and out. All of life is busy with work, family, and so on, but you are already behind if you are not making yourself a priority.

  • Get enough rest
  • Stay hydrated
  • Recharge your whole being
  • Eat healthily
  • Get regular exercise
  • Check-in on your relationships
  • Live a life you LOVE!
Today is your day, challenge yourself to do something great!
