Cedar Rapids Moms Neighborhood Series: 4 Reasons I Love Living in Center Point

I moved to Center Point about 3 years ago and came from San Antonio, Texas. It’s a huge difference moving from such a large place to a smaller town. But, our family has thrived in the small town that we live in, and I think it has a lot to offer for everyone.

Why We Love Living in Center PointHere is a list of some of my favorite features of Center Point:

The Anderson Center Point Public Library

We love going to the library, and this one’s a great one! They just wrapped up their summer reading program but I still take my kids there at least weekly if not more. The staff members here are so kind towards the children that visit and their friendly attitude is refreshing. I usually find a couple of magazines and skim them while I watch my kids play in the large play area. It is a safe and secure space for my youngest in particular, as there is only one small entrance/exit. Our visits always end with picking books to check out and reading once we get home.

Fross Park/Wakema Park

Since I have young children, good parks are a must! There are a few differences that I appreciate between these parks. Fross Park is a massive 44-acre public park and has a long list of attractions. From the Splash Pad that is open during summers to seasonal community parties/events, there is something there for everyone.

Wakema Park actually also hosts some events throughout the year and they are always a fun time. This is a smaller park and I feel that their playground is age-appropriate for my young kids. Its size makes it feel more safe and secluded.

Convenience and accessibility to local business

Center Point has so much to offer when it comes to shopping, healthcare, and restaurants, and everything is so close! There are a couple of grocery stores great for grabbing that last ingredient for dinner. My primary doctor is right across the street from me, and my pharmacy is even in the same building. Across the street from that is my gym and a great little cafe called O’Brien’s. For restaurants, my favorites are Joensy’s (worth the trip for the Pork Tenderloin), McDonald’s, Subway, and Casey’s.

Amazing school district

My daughter is receiving such a wonderful education from her school. The entire school knows our family and everyone is so supportive of us. We are also fortunate to live very close to the elementary school, which is also very convenient.

I hope this list inspires you to come visit Center Point sometime soon.

We certainly love it and think you will too!
