Halloween is officially over for the year, but is anyone else still haunted by the buckets of candy that now sit overflowing with chocolate and sugar on your kitchen table? There they sit, taunting our children who beg for “just one more piece” every 10 minutes. If you want to avoid some of the constant sugar highs, here are some alternatives to get the Halloween candy out of your house:
Donate your leftover candy
You can give your kids a lesson in giving back and send candy in to Operation Gratitude by November 8. They use candy to send care packages to troops and veterans.
Bake with it!
A simple Pinterest search will bring up tons of ideas for using your piles of candy to make special cookies or brownies. Make a few batches and drop off a plate full of treats to your neighbors or grandparents.
Here are a few of my favorites:
- Butterfinger Cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction
- Snickers Brownie Cookies from Something Swanky
- Reese’s PB Bars from Inside BruCrew’s Life
- Kit Kat Cookies from Crazy for Crust
Really, you can’t go wrong when you bake with candy!
Let us know if we’ve missed any options for taking care of that leftover candy. Happy November!
