Friday, February 2nd

Valentine Footprint Craft |  2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. @ Baby Time

Come make a DIY Valentine footprint craft with your child! Pre-printed canvas and tempura paint is included in price. Just bring your little ones and they will have extra hands to help make the footprint and clean up. Cost is $5 per canvas, with the option to purchase as many as you want. If you would like more than two canvases per child, please message Baby Time on Facebook. Pay with cash or credit at the event. Reservations are free & requested, but walk-ins are welcome. PLEASE BOOK ONE TIME PER FAMILY. Recommended for babies & toddlers. Can’t make it Friday? Check out the event on Saturday instead!

The Quarter Barrel’s 2nd Birthday! |  6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. @ The Quarter Barrel Arcade & Brewery

The Quarter Barrel is turning 2! Celebrating their Terrible Two’s with a special release of 2 barrel-aged beers at 6pm to get the party started. From 6-8pm, Papa Balloon and his friends will be there. Each kid (12 and under) will get a free birthday cookie. From 6-10pm, the kids at heart will get $2 off all regular house brews. They will also be running food specials and playing cheesy movie sequels. Open to the public.

Saturday, February 3rd

Sensory Saturday |  8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. @ The Play Station

The Play Station is proud to support families who have children with autism and special needs. They are offering a sensory-friendly experience. During this time the arcade games will be turned off as well as all T.V.’s to limit noise. The Cafe will be open serving drinks and food. Families are welcome to stay after 10am and enjoy some extended perks. $5 for 40 tokens and Half Price Salad Bar for parents and kids. No reservations required.  Cost is $5 for kids ages 1-15 – adults are always FREE!

Cedar Rapids Comic Con |  10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. @ Doubletree by Hilton Cedar Rapids Convention Complex

Cedar Rapids Comic Con is the Midwest’s most affordable comic book, gaming, and all things nerdy convention. An estimated 10,000+ people from all over the Midwest (and beyond) will swarm on Cedar Rapids for a weekend filled with nerd and geek friendly activities. The convention itself hosts comic artists and writers, vendors selling nerdy collectibles, and experts in fields relating to the comic book, sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming world. Simply put, if it’s nerdy… you’ll find it there. Cedar Rapids Comic Con is an all-inclusive event — everyone is welcome… particularly families. Ticket prices begin at $10 per person, children 12 and under are free with paying adult. Purchase tickets here or purchase tickets at the door.

Kids Paint Class – “Swirling Hearts” |  9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. @ Artwork by Julia Kulish (4198 Pikeview Drive, Center Point, Iowa 52213)

Kids get creative! This is a fun, step by step instructional class for kids ages 7-12 (exceptions on ages can be made, email for more details – julskul@msn.com). Kids will come home with a truly one of a kind work of art! All art supplies are provided – kids just come, create, and we clean up the mess! Parents are welcome to stay, just let Julia know in advance. Cost is 20.00 per child. Registration required. To sign up, purchase a ticket here, mark your name as “going” under the event on Facebook and leave a comment as to how many children will be joining you. Space is limited.

Saturday, February 4th

Animal Adoption and Information Open House |  11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. @ Last Hope Animal Rescue

There will be adoptable cats and dogs there for you to meet; and they will be giving information on the Last Hope Kids Club, volunteering, grooming, etc. Bring in a donation and be entered for a chance to win some great raffle prizes! Don’t worry, the big game doesn’t start until later so come out and have fun and then get home in plenty of time for the game! Free & open to the public. Can’t make it Sunday? Check out a similar event at S.A.I.N.T Rescue on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Cedar Rapids Moms Blog Valentine’s Playdate |  10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. @ Prestige Dance Studio

Join us for a Valentine’s Playdate with Prestige Dance Studio!! We’ll do dance activities, have a snack, and make a fun Valentine’s craft! This is a great opportunity to have some fun and meet other Cedar Rapids moms and kiddos!  Tickets are $7/child ages 2 and up and free for siblings 1 and under. Parents are free.
