Let It Shine: The American Civil Rights Movement | 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. @ African American Museum of Iowa
This production is presented by Bright Star Touring Theatre, a national professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, NC. “Let It Shine: The American Civil Rights Movement” is designed to provide an honest and accessible portrayal of the American struggle for Civil Rights. This powerful show brings to the stage pivotal moments of the American struggle for civil rights. The Freedom Riders, “Bobingham” and the Montgomery bus boycott are just a few of the events that unfold before the audience. Key figures from the time period are brought to life and celebrated for their dedication to securing equal rights in America. The production is 45 minutes long and best appreciated by audiences in 3rd grade to Adult. Admission is $5 per person at the door. Refreshments will be provided.

Faces of ACEs & Resiliency Art Show | 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. @ Cedar Rapids Public Library
The Faces of ACE’s & Resiliency gives youth an opportunity to share their feelings or experiences such as homelessness, substance use, violence, divorce, separation, or neglect in the home or community. The pieces depict overcoming these stressors and learning to survive and thrive using art. Examples of art that will be shown are paintings, drawings, jewelry, poetry, sculptures, quilting, photography, pottery, dance, skit, song, etc. Free & open to the public.
Hy-Vee Easter Egg Hunts | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. @ Cherry Hill Park, Hayes Park, and Noelridge Park
Join Hy-Vee for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Get egg-cited to chase after over 1000 eggs, including 3 Golden Eggs, one per field, that contain special prizes. The 3 fields will feature the following age ranges, 3 & under, 4-6. 7-10. The hunt will start promptly at 11 a.m.!

Come enjoy a Easter egg hunt with candy and prizes hosted by Cedar Rapids Pay It Forward. Children ages 0-10 may participate, must be accompanied by parent.

Join Hercules’ Haven for an Open Barn Day. You’ve seen the the photos and stories, now you can take your own pictures and be part of the story. Bring a blanket and pack a picnic lunch. Explore the property, relax and renew. You can hang with the goats, brush a horse, romp with the lamb and love the pigs. Paddles In the Pool | 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. @ Bender Pool
Linn County Conservation and the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department are offering a kayak clinic, “Paddles in the Pool.” Experienced paddlers will share their skill and enthusiasm with beginners and those who wish to improve. Topics to be covered are safety, types of boats, care and storage of equipment, paddling skills and techniques, entering and exiting the water, and where to go kayaking. Boats and paddles will be provided. Participants bring a life jacket and wear proper swim attire. For ages 10 and up. Children must be supervised by an adult. The fee is $10 per person. Advance registration for program #304223-01 is recommended through the Cedar Rapids Parks and Rec., however, registrations will be accepted at the door, space permitting.
