Kids Dream Not so Scary Halloween Series

October 20th-29th @ Marcus Theatres {Galaxy 16 Cinema}

Showings are on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 10:00 a.m.  Tickets are $3, or print passes here. Shrek is showing October 20th-22nd with trick-or-treating in the theater before the movie at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21st.  Book of Life is showing October 27th-29th.


Harvest Hayrack Nights: Sunset Pumpkins

October 18th and October 25th from 5:00-6:30 p.m. @ Ushers Ferry

Does your little one turn into a pumpkin at sunset? This program is geared for families with young children (older children welcome). Bring supper with you and come out to Ushers Ferry for an early evening hayrack ride, bonfire and simple craft before bedtime. The saloon will be open with popcorn and sarsaparilla available for purchase. $6/child ages 2-12 (under 2 free); $9/adult.


Harvest Hayrack Nights: Night Owls

October 18th and October 25th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. @ Ushers Ferry

Enjoy an evening of old-fashioned fun! Take a hayrack ride through the valley, gather around the bonfire with hot cocoa to roast marshmallows, make a simple craft and join us in the saloon for some card games. Popcorn and sarsaparilla will be available for purchase. $6/child ages 2-12 (under 2 free); $9/adult.


Pumpkin Painting Party

October 21st from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library

Have a spooktacular time at the museum painting pumpkins, crunching on snacks, and sipping cider! Everyone is encouraged to wear spooky, silly, beautiful, or kooky costumes and there will be aprons available to help protect their faboolous outfits. All necessary supplies are included in the ticket price. $5 per child; Seating is limited. Please RSVP for this program by October 20.


Spooky Skate

October 21st fom 2:00-4:00 p.m. @ Cedar Rapids Ice Arena

Calling all ghosts, goblins, and ghouls…pirates, princes, and princesses! The Cedar Rapids Ice Arena is hosting it’s annual Spooky Skate.  Come for an afternoon of frights and fun! Enter to win prizes, play some spooky games, and make Halloween themed crafts! Come in your Halloween costume and enter the costume contest. $6/skater includes admission and skates.


SAFE Halloween for Kids

October 22nd from 1:00-4:00 p.m. @ Ushers Ferry

Enjoy the annual old-fashioned Halloween at the village with trick-ortreating, games and costume contests. $7/trick or treater.


Family Time – Spooky Story Fall Festival

October 23rd from 6:30-7:30 p.m. @ Marion Public Library

Join us for a fun and spooky story festival where Ms Lara brings out her favorite creepy tales to puts chills (and a few giggles) into your Family Time! All ages are welcome but stories will be geared towards 4-8 years and all children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult! 


Cedar Rapids NewBo/Czech Village Halloween Parade

October 27th from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in NewBo/Czech Village

The inaugural NewBo/Czech Village parade is themed “Monsters of the Night.” Find more details on the event Facebook page.


A Not Too Spooky Scooby Doo Halloween Costume Party

October 28th at 10:00 a.m. @ Ely Public Library

Bring the kids to this annual costume party! This year’s theme will be “Scooby Doo, Where are you?”. There will be a spooky story (Zoinks!), a groovy game and some Scooby snacks (treats). Parents, feel free to participate, and bring your camera too.


Pumpkins & Ponies Family Fall Festival

October 28th from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. @ Sutliff Cider Company

Enjoy a family fun day and support an amazing local rescue, hosted at Sutliff Cider Company! Hayrack Rides, Horse Rides, Inflatables, Pumpkin Decorating, Apple Bobbing, Costume Contest, Face Painting, Petting Zoo, Product & Food Vendors, Bingo, Silent Auction, Bake Sale, Live Music and much more! $9/person or $30 for a family 4 pack (3 and under are free). Purchase tickets at Cedar Rapids & Marion Hy-Vee stores and Hy-Vee drugstores or online.


Merry Not Scary Mall-O-Ween

October 28th from 10:00 a.m.-Noon @ Lindale Mall

Bring your candy bucket and come out to our 7th Annual Merry Not Scary Halloween and Expo with Macaroni Kid! There will be Candy from Vendors, Unique Shopping, Crafts, and more! Only a few select store fronts will be participating. Treats will be given out by local vendors located in the hall near center court and playground area.


October 28th from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. @ Cedar Rapids Public Library (Downtown)

Join us for a fun-filled happening Halloween. There’ll be games galore, including Pin the brain on the zombie, Mummy 10 pin bowling and pumpkin golf. Take a spooky cookie walk and make a powerful potion to take home. If you’re feeling brave, stick your hand in boxes filled with Halloween horror- toes, brains and fingernails! Don’t forget to wear your costume and enter our Halloween costume contest.


Czech Village Trick or Treat

October 28th from 10:00 a.m.-Noon in Czech Village

Bring your little goblins to Czech Village for daytime trick-or-treating Oct. 28th from 10 a.m. to Noon. Selected shops in the Village will have treats for all your little tricksters!


Marion Airport Trunk or Treat

October 28th from Noon-2:00 p.m. @ the Marion Airport

P&N Flight and Charter is hosting its third annual community outreach “Trunk or Treat” event at the Marion Airport. This event allows children to come out to their local airport and experience trick or treating in a safe environment while learning about aviation and the science of flight. The kids go “door-to-door” among different vehicles (airplanes, helicopters, cars, trucks, motorcycles, fire engines, etc.) that have been decorated in some kind of Halloween theme. This year, we are going to add a “Candy Drop,” where we will fill 5 gallon buckets with candy and drop candy from a helicopter. After the candy is dropped, participants will be able to run into the drop zone and pick up as much candy as they can. 


Halloween Monster Mash Bash

October 28th from 6:30-9:30 p.m. @ Kids 1st Gymnastics {Ages 5-14 years}

Come dressed in your favorite costume to the Kids First Haunted House! We will spend the evening with a costume contest and dancing to songs like the Monster Mash. We will play all sorts of Halloween inspired games, like Mummy Races and make a spooky craft! The night wouldn’t be complete without some Halloween “Feel Boxes”. Do you have what it takes to plunge your hand into a mystery box, filled with anything from worms to eyeballs?! We will have free time and enjoy some delicious pizza!  Don’t miss out on this spook-tacular event! Cost: $25.


Scary Stories on the Lawn

October 28th from 7:30-9:00 p.m. @ Indian Creek Nature Center

A floorboard creaks in an empty room. You hear the snap of a twig and a flash of eyes deep in the forest. We have all felt that sudden, nameless fear. Join Darrin Crow around the fire for an evening of scary stories – stories that will have you looking over your shoulder into the dark woods! This program is not for young children. Stories will be scary! Hot chocolate will be provided. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. Registration required. M $5; NM $8. 


Hiawatha Fall Festival

October 29th from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. @ 704 Emmons St., Hiawatha

Trick or treat farmers market vendors, enjoy a bounce house, New Horizons Band, Prestige Dance Studio Performance, and so much more! Kids Costume Contest sponsored by HiCREW Kiwanis.


Fall Fest at VETS

October 29th from 1:00-4:00 p.m. @ Veterans Memorial Building

First 100 kids in costumes receive a free, small pie-pumpkin to paint! One of the 101+ kids to arrive after 1 pm?? Bring your own pumpkin to carve – safe carving tools provided. Free activities, cookies, and apple cider along with fall-photo backdrops and a costume parade at 3pm top off the event. Come one come all to a Free Fantastic Fall Fun Fest at VETS!!!


Ladd Library Halloween Party

October 30th from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. @ the Ladd Library

Cedar Rapids Police Department Trick or Treat

October 31st from 4:30-6:30 p.m. @ Sunner Memorial Park

The CRPD will be handing out goodies to trick-or-treaters at the Sunner Memorial Park (corner of Valor Way and 7th Ave. SW) on Halloween! Stop by between 4:30 and 6:30pm and look for the pink police car!


Trick or Treat at the Marion Public Library

October 31st from 9:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m. @ the Marion Public Library

Everyone is welcome to stop in the library on Tuesday, October 31st to Trick-or-Treat! We’ll have small treats available at our service desks in the library all day, so creep, crawl, slither or skip on by to say hello and share in the fun!


Trick or Treat Downtown Vinton

October 31st from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Downtown Vinton

Trick or treat with Vinton’s downtown businesses! 


Lisbon Halloweentown

October 31st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Downtown Lisbon

Downtown Lisbon transforms into one of the scariest fun places to be this Halloween!  Join Lisbon area businesses for a fun and frightful night.  Bring your kids downtown to Trick or Treat at spooky downtown businesses.
