What Time is it? It’s Time to Bowl!
This month boasts National Bowling Day this weekend on August 13th. Why not learn a few fun facts about the history of bowling before heading out to one of the four local Cedar Rapids bowling alleys?
Bowling Fun Facts:
- It’s considered one of the oldest games in history
- Bowling balls were originally made from wood
- In 1948, The White House installed its first bowling alley in the West Wing for President Truman
- The maximum amount of holes allowed in a bowling ball is 12
- Nine strikes in a row land you a “Golden Turkey”
Why do we Love Bowling?
I love an activity that gets us out of the house and teaches my kiddos something. During a game of bowling, my girls continue to learn how to take turns and have patience. The game may not always go smoothly, but we always have fun.
On the other hand, my husband loves to perfect his throwing angles at every turn. My girls show off their unique styles through sock choices to match their bowling shoes…this is a legit discussion in our house before leaving. Additionally, they love changing up the color of their bowling balls each time we go. The most beloved accessories are the bowling ramp and bumpers. With those two features, they smoke my husband and me right off the lane.
Bowling also helps my girls learn to foster relationships through a fun activity. When we go with family or friends, lasting memories are created. For the parents involved, you can always make it competitive or not!
One of my family’s favorite bowling alleys is the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.
CRBC is a family-owned and operated company since 1976 and has also been voted #1 on KCRG A-List. They are members of the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business) and the Cedar Rapids Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Bowling Party Packages
They offer bowling parties of any kind, including party packages. Below is a look at their 2-hour birthday party package:
- 2+ Bowling Lanes (1 for every 4 bowlers)
- Party Room
- Pizza and Drink
- Birthday Hostess
Bowling Leagues
Bowling leagues are also offered at CRBC including Doubles, Youth, Senior Trios, and one of my all-time favorite league names…Lousy Bowlers. The leagues range from competitive to casual, so you’re able to find a league that’s the perfect fit for you.
Affordable Cost for a Great Experience
Concerned about the cost? CRBC has kept its prices affordable, which range between $3.50-$4 per bowler/game, and shoe rentals are only $3. If you are a league bowler, your games are $2.50. If you work up an appetite from the intense competition, then CRBC has a snack bar with a range of food and drinks to choose from.
