Get In My Belly: The Best Burgers in and around Cedar Rapids

Get In My Belly: The Best Burgers in and around Cedar RapidsI’ve oft been called the Burger Queen in my family.  I ain’t even mad.

Breakfast?  Burger.

Christmas?  Burger.

Wedding?  Burger.

I mean, it’s all the major food groups (read: carbs and cheese) in one delightful sammich.  The corridor is home to some of the bombest burgers out there.

From fancy blueberry burgers at Black Sheep to the Santa Fe at Union Station, Cedar Rapids has the fare to make all your dreams come true.

Burgerfiend

Located on Center Point Road, Burgerfiend is home to one of the Iowa Beef Producer’s best!  The Bacon Double Burger has bacon ground into the beef for a carnivorous delight.  Available for delivery using GrubHub.

Saucy Focaccia:

Two locations in Cedar Rapids are here to serve all your mac-and-cheese hamburger needs.  In my humble opinion, they also have the best onion rings.  CHOMP offers delivery.

Emil’s Hideaway:

Every time I think I have my favorite burger nailed down I remember how bomb the ones at Emil’s are.  COVID was not kind to them, so now that they have re-opened, let’s support a local gem!

Bea’s Café:

Yes, this restaurant typically specializes in breakfast fare (legit, pancakes as big as your head.  Help me, Jesus) but they have BOMB burgers.  Wonderfully seasoned, great diner fare.

The Map Room has great, unique burgers all prepared in-house!

Map Room:

This is quickly becoming a Cedar Rapids burger destination.  With their unique options and veggie patty made in-house, this gem tucked away in downtown Cedar Rapids is definitely a place to please your palate!

Union Station:

My husband was here weekly for OnIowa Live and given that the bar was down the street from our house, I got acquainted with their Santa Fe burger.  Sautéed onions instead of fried onions takes this to the next level.

Blind Pig:

Two words: Diablo Burger.  Make sure you take the ol’ Tums before this spicy delight.

Local Pour Street Food:

While your typical meat-and-cheese hamburgers are not menu staples, they have some fantastic vegan and vegetarian options!  They serve the Impossible Burger dressed with sweet chili ketchup (vegan) as well as a dope black bean burger with sriracha aioli.

30 Hop:

If you’re into unique burgers and sandwiches, this place is your jam.  Specialties from the 50/50 (my carnivore hubby’s favorite) and the Unami burgers on their rooftop on a cool early fall evening overlooking the blessed Target makes a great date.

Parlor City Pub & Eatery:

Located right across from NewBo City Market, this Cedar Rapids staple has both classic bar food as well as unique eats.  Their hamburgers are some of my favorites.  I’m not a fruit-with-my-burger type of girl, but the Blues Jam was the stuff dreams are made of.

So there you have it–my ten favorite burger spots in the Corridor.

Covid has wreaked havoc on so many local restaurants, and they have relied on our community to keep them afloat with take out, curbside, and delivery patronage.  If you are comfortable visiting any one of these great eateries, please do so and tip well!  If not, I can attest the fare is just as good in a styrofoam box.

We’ll all get through this one patty at a time!
