November 7th – Grow a Good Citizen Day at Iowa Children’s Museum: 10 AM to 5 PM

Join us on Election Day for non-partisan activities that introduce children to the role citizens play in a democracy. Event activities include a just-for-kids election to pick our next celebration day theme (don’t forget to grab your voter button once you cast your vote) and special storytimes!

November 8th – Wild Animals in Winter: Preschool Trail Trekkers: 10 AM to 11 AM

Explore the winter woods. Dress warmly! Preschooler: $5 (ages 3-5); Siblings (ages 0-2); Adults are free

November 9th – Family Fun Night at the Fun Station

Every Thursday evening beginning at 4pm, it’s Family Fun Night at The Fun Station! Enjoy:

  • Play Maze Admission $7
  • Climbing Walls $7
  • Half Price Arcade Games
  • Family Pizza Package (one large one-topping pizza and four drinks for $24.99)
  • $2 off appetizers, wings, and desserts
  • Grip Socks are required for all participants and can be purchased at the front counter for $3.49.

November 11th – Live Animal Meet & Greet at Wickiup Hill Learning: 10 AM to 12 PM

Learn more about the live animals who call our nature center home.  Naturalists will share all about them, answer your questions, and even let you touch some of these amazing creatures! Register for a 30-minute session. Open to all ages. Free event. 30-minute sessions from 10 am to noon. Register here.

November 11th – Free LEGO Car or Train at JCPenney Kids Zone in Cedar Rapids: 11 AM to noon

On the second Saturday of every month from 11 to noon, enjoy a free craft for kids at JCPenney, plus a 10% off coupon. We always recommend confirming details before attending.

November 16th – Read to Dogs at Ladd Library: 6:30 PM – 7 PM

Trained, certified therapy dogs provide companionship to emerging readers as they earn a free library book and bookmark. Everyone is welcome to read to the dogs. Stay for a performance at 7 pm.

November 17th BINGO Night at Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center: 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Join us at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center for nights of fun, socializing, and a chance to win some cash! Games of BINGO will be played for $.25 per card, per game. Cash prizes are paid to the winner of each game. There will also be a few bonus games with increased payouts before the night concludes with a winner-take-all game of blackout. Participants are welcome to bring outside food and drinks to enjoy while they play.

November 18th Thanksgiving Turkey Photo Holder Workshop at Lowe’s Locations: 10 AM to 1 PM

Bring your mini-DIYer into Lowe’s at one of the select time slots. Workshops hosted by one our Red Vest experts are held from 10:00am – 1:00pm, in-store only. We look forward to building with you and your little ones! Don’t forget – if you are unable to attend during your selected timeslot, your kit may be given away to Walk-Ins starting at 1:00pm, the day of the workshop. Reserve your spot today!

November 18th – Beyond Genealogy for Ages16+ (REGISTER) at Ushers Ferry Historic Village: 2 PM to 3:30 PM

Would you like to know more about your family beyond names and dates on gravestones? Ushers Ferry’s historian, Ann Cejka, will walk you through many of the free digital or local resources you can use to trace your history and gain a better understanding of your ancestors and the times in which they lived. $13/non-res; $12/resident | Register – more info

November 22 – Fall Nerf Tactical for Ages 9-14 at Ushers Ferry Historic Village: 1PM to 4 PM

Grab your friends and your NERF gear and head out to Ushers Ferry to blow off some steam over Thanksgiving break! Learn NERF safety and strategy, then break into teams to play ‘Capture the Flag’ and other games to defend your fortress. Bring your own NERF gear, ammo, and eye protection. We will play indoors in the lodge if the weather is bad. $21/non-res; $17/resident | Register – more info

November 22 – Cirque Musica Holiday Spectacular at the Paramount Theatre: 7:00 PM

Cirque Musica Holiday Spectacular is an all-new production featuring some of the greatest holiday songs of all time performed with the world-renowned cast of Cirque Musica.

Audiences will be amazed by the acrobats, aerialists, hilarious hijinks, and holiday cheer. The show blends the spellbinding grace and daredevil athleticism of today’s greatest circus performers with the holiday classics we all love. 

November 27 – Cedar Rapids Turkey Trot 5K at Greene Square Park: 9 AM to 12 PM

The annual Turkey Trot takes place on Thanksgiving morning in downtown Cedar Rapids! Runners will run/walk a 5K around downtown Cedar Rapids and enjoy a free donut after the race! Free – all are welcome!

November 30 – Holiday Tree Lighting in Village Center Plaza in Hiawatha: 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Enjoy the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of City Hall in Village Center Plaza. Meet Santa, enjoy some hot cocoa, and enjoy a fun holiday tradition.
