Celebrate International Day of Yoga in Cedar Rapids

Yoga, not just for the body. A physical and spiritual practice with many benefits, including: mental stability, stress management, relaxation, and connection to community. A regular asana practice can also aid with balance, flexibility, strength and posture.

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated on June 21st since 2015, following it’s inception by the United Nations General Assembly. Proposed by India and endorsed by 175 member states.

The Cedar Rapids area offers many opportunities to start or continue your practice.

Meet Me at the Market

When: Thursdays at 6:30-7:15 p.m., May through August

Where: NewBo City Market yard (1100 3rd St SE, Cedar Rapids)

Cost: Free. Bring a mat and a water bottle.

Sunrise Yoga

When: Saturdays at 7:30 a.m., June through August

Where: Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park (4500 N. 10th Street, Marion)

Cost: Free. Bring a mat and a water bottle.

Metta Yoga

When: Mondays & Thursdays; 9:30–10:30 a.m., 10:45–11:45 a.m. & 5:30–6:30 p.m.

Where: Prairiewoods (120 Boyson Road, Hiawatha)

Cost: $120 for eleven-punch card, $72 for six-punch card or $15 for single class, one punch per session. Registration for each session is required.

Yoga & Mimosas

When: monthly, dates vary

Where: Soko Outfitters (41 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids)

Cost: Varies per event.

Practice in the Prairie

When: Tuesdays 6:00-7:00 p.m., June through September

Where: Indian Creek Nature Center (5300 Otis Rd SE, Cedar Rapids)

Cost: Free. Bring a mat and a water bottle.
