Red Cedar Chamber Orchestra: Physics, Art, And Music

March 29 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The Red Cedar Chamber Orchestra string quartet will present music accompanied by narration and images featuring art and architecture.
Where do the arts and science meet? Exciting young artists Alex Norris, violin, and Donghee Han, viola, join the core ensemble in a program of string quartet music by composer-in-residence Michael Kimber. They will explore the physics of sound through harmonics, the relationship of color and texture in music and visual art through a piece inspired by artworks by Monet, van Gogh, Kandinsky, and Wood, and tell the story of Western music from 100 AD to 2022 through music and words. Projected images of art and architecture will enhance this trip through time for a truly multi-media experience.
