Who wants to learn how to make their own stuffie! This class is suitable for anyone from 8 to 99 years old! Let’s make something cute!
Cheryl Kardell, owner of the Artisan’s Emporium and head Amigurumist, will be teaching a series of classes on the basic skills of making your own stuffed creature.
Amigurumi, Pronounced AH-ME-GA-ROO-ME, is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures.
In this class, you will learn how to make a basic shape and embellish it to look like different creatures. Class will cover, crocheting in the round, stuffing, sewing, attaching safety eyes, attaching appendages/ears and stitching directly on the animal.
Materials provided: Enough yarn and stuffing to make TWO stuffies, two sets of safety eyes w/color of your choice, a crochet hook (if needed) and a plastic yarn needle for the sewing needed. Make one in class then make one at home!
We will be using a K/6.50mm Crochet hook. If you have one, bring it with you, otherwise there will be one provided in your kit. We’ll be doing basic single crochet stitches, slip stitches and chain stitches. Don’t worry if you don’t know how, that’s why it’s a class. If you have some experience with those stitches, that’s great too!
