Nothing says Fall like a trip to the apple orchard!! On September 19th we had the pleasure of having Allen’s Orchard host our first orchard play date! It was a GORGEOUS day to meet other Cedar Rapids mamas and learn about apples!!
The Allen’s Orchard staff did a terrific job teaching the kiddos some new songs and about how apples grow! Did you know the orchard grows 40 different varieties of apples? And also grows grapes, pumpkins, and other produce?!
They also have goats, which were definitely the highlight of the play date for some of the kiddos!! Another highlight was getting to watch how the apples are washed and polished! The best ones are set out for sale. The second-best ones are used in their delicious apple baked goods and treats!!
The kiddos also loved getting to pick their own apple and getting to search for the orchard fairy!! So much fun! Our kids had a blast and are already asking when they can go back! We’re definitely planning to visit one of their fall festivals and stock up on some more apple cider donuts!!
