Meet Ingrid Glessner:
Hi! I’m thrilled to be a part of a community that is celebrating Cedar Rapids! As a young girl growing up in the small town of Coggon, Cedar Rapids was the “big city” and it has maintained it’s rock star status with me. I moved from my small town to Cedar Rapids in 2007 to pursue a career in cosmetology. After working my way through school at Capri college I became employed at Cost Cutters. I eventually began renting my own space and returned to Capri as a cosmetology educator.
However, working full time came to an end in 2013 when my husband Jon and I witnessed the incredible need for foster parents in Cedar Rapids. In July 2013, we welcomed home our son, and later his sister, which resulted in adoption of both our precious children in 2015.
During our adoption process I was able to work part time at our local church and upon finalizing the adoptions I became a stay at home mom. I love being at home with our kids, but quickly found that connecting with women in the cosmetology field, and ministry, was still calling my name. I now work part time from home as a heart coach for WOW Wholehearted Living ministry and even get to substitute teach from time to time and connect with the students at Capri.
Jon and I married in 2012, became parents in 2013, adopted our two children in 2015, and are preparing for a third in 2017- so we make sure we squeeze in plenty of date nights and recharge time. Spending time with family and friends, strolling through the Newbo district, or enjoying take out on the couch is where you’ll find us most Friday and Saturday nights.
I’m looking forward to sharing a bit more of our journey with you and reminding all of you amazing mamas that we are in this together!

Meet Whitney Rasmussen:
Hey there! Although I’m a devoted Minnesota girl at heart, I have thoroughly enjoyed calling Cedar Rapids home for the last 10 years. After meeting my now hubby, Grant, at the University of North Dakota, we moved back to his native state fresh out of college and ready to start our careers. He found his passion working at the Cedar Rapids Police Department, now serving as a patrol sergeant. I, too, enjoyed my daily grind working as a teacher in the Cedar Rapids District for 7 years. During that time we enjoyed training our new puppy, Gordon, golfing, and settling into our first home together.
