Hello, I’m Samantha Wood! I’m really excited to experience this motherhood journey with you all. I am originally from the suburbs of Illinois and a true Duck, Duck, Goose believer. I first came to Cedar Rapids for school, and stayed to have a family. My husband, Eric, and I are both transplants (he, a Duck, Duck Grey Duck loyalist since he is from Minnesota) found Cedar Rapids to be a great place to plant roots after we both graduated from Coe College. Our journey to family wasn’t the easiest. We have experienced two miscarriages, and went on the great IVF journey in order to finally hold our son, Oliver, in our arms. I wouldn’t trade our experience for the world. I am a firm believer that life wouldn’t throw you obstacles if it didn’t believe you would prevail. 

 

I am a full-time working momma at Rockwell Collins, and finishing up my last year of graduate school. As a daughter of refugees, I don’t want to take any opportunity for granted, and want to instill the same values onto my son. I believe in showing compassion to others, giving everyone a fair shot, and giving 100% to whatever you set your mind to. 

 

With this being said, everyone is human. I am constantly fighting for work/life balance, staying up late to finish homework, and I am raising my hands to the rooftops if I can get eight hours of sleep (interrupted or uninterrupted, I’m not picky). I am by no means an expert when it comes to mommy-hood, but I can share success stories, hardships, experience in certain situations, and most importantly, a lending hand to other mommies out there. 

 

 I’m so grateful to be given this opportunity and platform to share this crazy,unpredictable but rewarding time with you.
