Meet Madeline Greene
My name is Madeline Greene and I am a Cajun from south Louisiana! My husband and I moved to the Cedar Rapids area about 4 years ago. We made the 17 hour drive to Iowa on Christmas day of 2013. It was the coldest winter I have ever experienced in my life. I had never seen so much snow! Who am I kidding… I had never actually seen REAL snow!
I wasn’t sure that I would survive that winter, but thankfully, I did! Spring brought the birth of our first born daughter (I now have two Iowa native girls). After spring, came the gorgeous Iowa summer that redeemed my heart for this foreign place. My culture shock melted in the warm sun. In my mind, living in Iowa was going to be a short-term season…but then I fell in love with the people and the community that my husband and I built here. We are laying down roots.
I have recently become a stay-at-home mom and I am loving it. We are still finding our groove. Most days I am striving to find that elusive unicorn called “balance.”
Being “domestic” is hard, y’all! More often than not, I find myself on the floor playing dolls with my oldest or peek-a-boo with the baby over folding my massive pile of laundry.
I love nature (when it’s warm out)! Hiking, canoeing, exploring, and being in or on the water make me happy. I am a “get to the heart of it” type of girl – I love a good deep conversation! I have been serving in ministry for the past 10 or so years, either on staff or as a volunteer, and I would say that it is my “trade” (if I were to name one). I truly enjoy public speaking and writing, which is why I am so stoked to be a new member of Cedar Rapids Moms Blog!
I am passionate about my faith and my people! I’m excited to share my perspective on the journey of motherhood with you!
